Goodwood Motor Circuit - Saturday 2nd February 2008
FULL ENTRY RECEIVED BY CHRISTMAS! For the
first time in its’ four year history we received a full entry by
Christmas, which we would like to think means that the rally has
established itself in the calendar as a worthwhile event. At the time of
writing we also have a growing reserve list. The other reassuring thing is
that 50% of this year’s entry are previous competitors.
What this means is that, in order to maintain our hard earned reputation, we need to ensure that this year’s event is better than ever . To achieve this we must have a good turnout of manpower from Fri 1st – Sun 3rd Feb.
YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU!
WE NEED:
On Friday 1st - Approx 10 -15 people to help bring the pallets from the nearby store, build the chicanes and generally set the stage up. Exact times will be confirmed nearer the date but the more helpers we get the quicker we can complete the task. We have evolved a system which works smoothly, efficiently and not too arduously if we have the manpower.
On Saturday 2nd – As many people as possible to marshal the event. The very tight time schedule to which we have to run requires a large team of marshals who are able to make changes to the chicanes at a specific moment and rebuild them quickly and safely if they are damaged by competitors. I cannot understate the importance of having enough marshals on the day. We also need some willing people to gather the equipment back off the circuit to the car park as soon as the rally has finished. Again, with enough bodies this really doesn’t take long but is a real pain at the end of the day if only a handful help.
On Sunday 3rd – Approx 10 -15
people again to clear all equipment from the site and return it to the
club stores. Again this is not too odious a job if we have enough people.
Southsea MC was woefully short on this day last year with just two people
turning up. With enough people the job can be completed in about three
hours max.
